EXPORT OPPORTUNITY ANALYSIS - GLOBAL ORANGE MARKET
Competitive Analysis
It is important to note the export opportunity
in France. As of 2016, France has a net export deficit of US$381.4 billion. The closest country to follow
is Germany, with a net export deficit of US$358.5 million. France’s net deficit is up 7% from 2012, which shows the massive
opportunities for orange sales in France. As a whole, the country imports
significantly more than the rest of the world.
Some examples of orange-trading companies
around the world are Elkenana Company MAFAZA (Egypt), Global Prime Group (PTY)
Ltd (South Africa), Intron Ltd (Greece), Marhayat Trading (Morocco), NAFTA
Enterprises PTY Ltd (Australia), Nova Trading SAC (Peru), Pons Redondo Group
SLU (Spain), Shanxi Qinghe Trading Co, Ltd (China), and Sunkist Growers
co-operative (United States).
Trends
Health Concerns - Orange juice competes directly with
various beverages globally, including coconut water, teas, nectars, flavored
water, and other fruit juices. These often have healthier connotations than
orange juice does, so in a world that continues to shift towards
health-conscious consumption this competition is both a micro- and
macro-environmental factor.
Decreased Production & Consumption - Brazil has
been a major producer of oranges, contributing up to 35% of the world’s orange
supply, but the Brazilian orange tree population is threatened by
citrus-devouring pests which have caused a
decrease in orange production. As a result of the health concerns surrounding
orange juice and its high sugar content, consumers are drinking less orange
juice than previously, despite still preferring it to other juices or
beverages.
